    Time Event
    9:48a
    dangerous crackpots
Against my better judgement I watched "ER" last night. That show has clearly gone on too long.

One interesting issue was brought up, though. A character in the episode believed that HIV did not cause AIDS. This really blew me away. This is like denying that the Holocaust happened. I looked for some more information and found this information outlining some of the insane ideas being promoted by these people, stuff like HIV being harmless or denying the existance of AIDS altogether.

I can understand that some people want to push Creationism in schools because their worldview is threatened by the idea that everything in the Bible might not be literally true, and I can understand that some people want to deny the Apollo moon landings because they're bored and don't understand that when you point a camera at the night sky and take a picture, the film doesn't have enough time to expose stars.

But denying HIV causes AIDS? I don't know what the motivation for spreading such dangerous lies could be.
