CNN News headline: Shooting victim apologizes to vice president

True story. Harry Whittington said, "My family and I are deeply sorry for all that Vice President Cheney and his family have had to go through this week."

Americans should be very proud of Mr. Whittington. He exemplifies the very epitome of the idea that, in this country, it's important for us to all blame the victim. When people are losing food stamps and medical care, it's clearly their own fault for not being born rich. It's not the fault of a corrupt Republican administration. Likewise, when the second most powerful white guy in the country shoots you in the face, well, it was your fault for standing there.

Harry Whittington is truly a gracious man. It takes a big-hearted individual to apologize for the awful thing he did.

Let's just hope he's learned his lesson and won't let it happen again.
